WHAT WE BELIEVE

At CitiLife Church our core beliefs shape our church and guide our journey of following Jesus together. We offer it as a simple, transparent look at what we believe and why it matters to our church family and community.

THE HOLY TRINITY

GOD - We believe in the sovereignty of the one God, eternally existing in the triune Godhead: Father, Son & Holy Spirit.

JESUS CHRIST - We believe the one true & universal Church consists of those who have been redeemed by Jesus & regenerated by the Holy Spirit; that the local church should be the expression of the one true & universal church & therefore the new birth & personal confession of faith in Christ are essentials of church membership.  We believe in the God-appointed ministries of the apostle, prophet, evangelist, pastor & teacher, which have been given for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry. We believe in the ultimate triumph of the church through the power of the Holy Spirit under the government of Jesus.

HOLY SPIRIT - We believe that the Holy Spirit is a person who convicts the World of sin, righteousness & of judgment & that He is the supernatural agent in regeneration, baptizing all believers into the body of Christ. We believe in (a) the baptism of the Holy Spirit, by which believers are empowered & equipped for service & (b) the gifts of & fellowship with the Holy Spirit.

SCRIPTURE

We believe the Scriptures of the Old & New Testaments in their original writing are inspired by God & accept them as the final authority for faith & life.  We believe that in the Scriptures of the Old & New Testaments, God has revealed Himself & given us an authoritative disclosure of His character & will.

MANKIND

We believe that mankind was created in the image & likeness of God, but through Adam’s sin the peace fell, inherited a sinful nature & became alienated from God; & that man lives in total depravity & is utterly incapable of redeeming himself.

THE GOSPEL OF THE KINGDOM

We believe the “Gospel” is the good news of deliverance from the bondage of the present age & the age to come.  We believe the Gospel includes the life, death, burial, & resurrection of Jesus Christ along with His ongoing ministry to restore all things.  We believe that the proclamation of the Gospel must make provision for the present reign of Christ over all things, or it is inadequate.

SALVATION

We believe that because of the substitutionary sacrifice of Jesus Christ, God freely forgives those who are brought to repentance & faith in His Son. We believe that all who are justified by the grace of God, through faith in Jesus Christ are born again of the Holy Spirit & thereby become children of God.

CHURCH

We believe the one true & universal Church consists of those who have been redeemed by Jesus & regenerated by the Holy Spirit; that the local church should be the expression of the one true & universal church & therefore the new birth & personal confession of faith in Christ are essentials of church membership.  We believe in the God-appointed ministries of the apostle, prophet, evangelist, pastor & teacher, which have been given for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry. We believe in the ultimate triumph of the church through the power of the Holy Spirit under the government of Jesus.

SACRAMENTS

We believe the Lord Jesus Christ appointed the two sacraments of baptism in water & the Lord’s Supper (communion) to be observed as an act of obedience & as perpetual witnesses to the Christian faith. We believe that baptism is by immersion in water, as the sign of spiritual circumcision & identification with Christ in His death, burial & resurrection. We believe the Lord’s Supper is the partaking of the sacrament, which symbolizes the broken body & shed blood of Christ, in remembrance of His sacrificial death.

SECOND ADVENT OF CHRIST

We believe in the personal & visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ in power & glory to judge the living & the dead.  We believe in the resurrection, both of the just & the unjust, the eternal blessedness of the redeemed, & the eternal damnation of those who have rejected God’s offer of salvation in Jesus Christ.
